Built entirely from official CMS data
SeniorCareRating.com uses the U.S. CMS Provider Data Catalog (Care Compare) under the “Nursing homes including rehab services” topic. Pages are generated ahead of time; the public site never queries a database when you visit.
Coverage in the current build
Care measures available for 14,321 of 14,700 facilities in this build.
Source datasets
The basics: name, location, beds, ownership type, the four CMS star ratings, and the abuse icon.
What inspectors found, kept as short facts — the finding, how serious it was, dates, and status.
A few CMS care indicators for long-stay residents, used for context.
Federal fines and payment denials issued in recent years.
The owner and chain the government reports, used to group facilities carefully.
What we do not store
- Scraped or user reviews
- Testimonials or endorsements
- Facility-paid placements or ads
- Invented ratings or rankings
- Long narrative inspection text
- Anything not traceable to a CMS source field
Why compact-only
We keep short codes, dates, numbers, and identifiers — not long narrative text. This keeps the dataset small, fast, and strictly traceable to CMS source fields, and avoids republishing unverified prose. Source runs (release date, checksum, row counts) are tracked for every refresh.
