We want the public CMS records on this site to be usable by everyone, including people who rely on assistive technology. This page describes what we target, what we test, and how to tell us about a barrier.
In short
The standard we target
Our target is conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. In practice that means readable color contrast, keyboard operability, meaningful headings and landmarks, labelled controls, text alternatives for non-text content, and layouts that work at increased zoom and on small screens.
What we test
Every release runs automated accessibility checks with the axe-core engine (WCAG 2.0/2.1 A and AA rules) in a real headless browser, across a representative set of page templates on both desktop and a mobile viewport. Serious and critical findings block the release. We also check color contrast and keyboard focus visibility as part of that process.
Known limitations
Where we know work remains.
Automated testing cannot catch everything. Full manual testing with screen readers and other assistive technology across every page type is ongoing rather than complete. Some analytical exhibits (charts and distribution graphics) are data-rich; where a graphic conveys information, we aim to provide the same information in accessible text and in the underlying data tables, and we are continuing to strengthen those alternatives.
